Belgrade Banking Academy – Faculty for Banking, Insurance and Finance presents a special institution of higher education based on the experience of a number of university professors, researchers, experts and entrepreneurs in the field of banking, insurance and finances. Its concept, organization and work methods justify the “School of Excellence” title; it is the Faculty that will provide experts of high-level knowledge and competence for the banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions.

The national and international environment in which our banks operate is radically altered. A number of things have changed: business standards, procedures for banking and financial transactions, communication with partners and clients, ownership structure; consequently, banking management has changed as well, all of which requires a very different volume and structure of knowledge that the staff in the field of banking (including classical banking and financial operations, insurance, investment banking, etc.) must possess.

Efficient banking services, provided nowadays by modern banks, require specialized skills and knowledge that the existing system of higher education in the field of economy and management does not provide, at least not sufficiently.

The above facts present significant reasons for founding Belgrade Banking Academy – Faculty for Banking, Insurance and Finance, created as a top-level institution of higher education that is concentrated on practical and applicable educational disciplines in the field of finance, banking and insurance, all of which are the nucleus of modern banking operations.

Faculty’s Technical Equipment

 

Lecture, practice and seminar halls are equipped with modern educational devices that enable multimedia presentations.

Each lecture hall has Internet access; the Faculty has a separate computer laboratory in which each student has his/her own PC and direct Internet access.

The Faculty comprises library with over 70.000 titles as well as the Depository library of the World Bank, IMF, OECD and UN.

The Faculty tries to create a relaxing, friendly atmosphere for its students. Beside Students’ Club, there are various other organizations that organize students’ participation in sports tournaments/professional competitions, national and foreign scientific gatherings and internships abroad.

ATLAS BANKA Ltd., Belgrade. Established in 1995. Licensed by The National Bank of Serbia for performing all types of banking transactions in the country and abroad. It has 18 organizational units – branch offices in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Jagodina, Krusevac, Pozarevac, Nis, Cacak and Pristina.

KOPAONIK OSIGURANJE Ltd., Belgrade. Shareholder company for insurance, founded in 1982. It deals with all types of insurance – property, life, credit, motor vehicle and goods insurance in domestic and international transport. The main branch offices are located in Vranje, Arandjelovac, Bor, Valjevo, Jagodina, Kikinda, Kragujevac, Kraljevo, Krusevac, Negotin, Nis and Sabac.

THE INSTITUTE OF ECONOMIC SCIENCES, Belgrade. Founded in 1958. It has a status of state institute of national significance in the field of economic sciences. It has achieved remarkable results in organizing the post-graduate studies in the field of econometrics, statistical analysis, share-holding and insurance. More than 20 research fellows, 14 of whom are PhDs, are engaged at the Institute.

The Faculty possesses the Decree of Compliance issued by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia No. 612-00-248/2003-04 as of December 28, 2004.

Dean’s CV

 

Hasan Hanic, PhD, is a full-time professor at the Faculty of Economics, Belgrade University. As a class-top student, he graduated from the same Faculty in 1972. In 1971, he got the “Best Student at the Belgrade Student Campus” award. He obtained MSc and PhD degrees from the Faculty of Economics; both his MSc and PhD theses won prizes from the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce. Since 1993, he has been a full-time professor at the Faculty of Economics, Belgrade University. Some of his past duties at the Faculty of Economics include:

Head of the Faculty department in Sabac

Vice-dean of Instruction

Vice-dean of Scientific and Research Work

Manager of the Science and Research Center

Editor-in-chief and manager of the publishing centre

President of the committee for post-graduate studies

In charge of the MSc course Information Systems and Management

During his term as a vice-dean, occasionally acted as the Faculty Dean

For his advanced academic studies, he visited the economic faculties and business schools in New York, London, Hamburg, Berlin and Moscow.

Taught undergraduate and postgraduate classes at the Faculty of Economics, Belgrade; was a visiting professor for post-graduate programmes at the Faculties of Economics in Subotica, Kragujevac , Nis, Pristina, Tuzla, Sarajevo.

He is a regular member and acting secretary general of Scientific Society of Economists of Serbia and Montenegro; member of Yugoslav Association for Marketing of SMn; and member of Statistics Association of Serbia. He was editor-in-chief of the magazine “Gledista” and editorial staff of numerous magazines in the economics field. He won a prize from the American Bibliographical Institute for his contribution to the development of science and higher education in the world. Prof. Hanic’s name is published in the world encyclopaedia “Who is Who in the World”.
