Borut Likar is an assistant professor at the University of Primorska – Faculty of Management where he also worked as a Research & Development Vice-Dean. He is also a Managing Director of the Institute for Innovation and Technology. Borut Likar achieved his PhD in electro-technical sciences at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana (medical bio-cybernetics) and completed MBA studies at the IEDC – Bled School of Management. Moreover, Dr Likar is the author of many scientific and expert publications. He is an innovator and a recipient of the Prešeren students’ award of the Republic of Slovenia for his scientific work as well as a recipient of many domestic and international awards for his innovations. Besides, he is an initiator and the head of several successful research, applicative, technological and other national and EU projects (ministries, Chamber of Commerce, Phare, ESF, Leonardo da Vinci etc.) with a single project budget amounting to over 0.5m EUR. Furthermore, he is the author of countless patents, models and copyright works, which many of them proved to be extremely marketable. Borut Likar is the author of numerous books primarily from the field of innovation management and R&D. As a university lecturer and researcher, he works actively at the University of Primorska as well as the University of Ljubljana, where he focuses mainly on pre- and post-graduate studies and research areas (benchmarking and managing of innovation, R&D and technological processes in enterprises as well as in educational system). He is the founder of the national association of innovative youth and one of the initiators of the University Incubator of Primorska. His work encompasses management of creativity, R&D, innovation processes in Slovenia and EU along with linking academic sphere to the economy via national and international projects. He also works as an evaluator of EU projects, reviewer of scientific publications, and editor of international scientific conferences and publications.
